After a very long week, the parents (I love them both...truly) have headed down the road and back to Castle Parents.
Hugs were exchanged. Words of love and safe travel were shared. Danger Kitty got her last bites and lick in. The door was shut.
And I got to take my first official look around at my...errr...domain.
What they have left in their wake is going to take some time to readjust to. Once again the kitchen cupboard will need to be realigned. The living room will need to be reconfigured. And all of the various and sundry pieces that Mom has taken it upon herself to relocate will have to be returned to where they were in the first place.
So without further ado, I have begun to return Castle Kredwyn back to its earlier magnificence...charm...hmmmmmm. Okay...so it's got a few things that need to be done.
And I'm feeling a bit like Runs With Scissors and her urge to pare down the clutter. Mind you, I don't hate clutter with my mother's solid dedication to removing the existence of clutter. I like my fair share. But there's quite a bit here...including my housemate's odd fascination with plastic storage containers.
Those. Containers. Are. Nearly. Everywhere.
Thinking that I might see something on HGTV, I turned it on and was instantaneously sucked in to the black hole of turning the scary looking flat into the sparkling jewel of the neighborhood.
There are curtains. There are cool ideas abounding. There is fresh paint on the walls.
And I'm looking around wondering even as I recognize the "distraction from writing the novel" factors at play...
Arrrgh...now they're doing things with baskets and stuff.
