Most recently Mitch McConnell has been at the forefront of trying to help President Bush get telecom immunity through on the FISA legislation. And even though he's been part of the negotiation process to come up with some FISA legislation that will...quite frankly...not suck when it comes to little things like constitutional infringements, we know full well that POTUS will be less than appreciative of Democratic efforts.
Even as POTUS signs a 15 day extension...the GOP is out there trying to figure out how to "protect" the telecommunications companies from 'We the People.'
It's with that and the email from a student who just told me that he's been sworn into the Marines going on in my head that I opened an email from Paul Hackett:
Mitch McConnell, the obstructionist Republican leader, orchestrated more filibusters last year than any Senator in our country's history. Washington needs to take action to confront the countless challenges created by this administration, but McConnell has used every weapon at his disposal to stop progress from being made.
McConnell just helped President Bush veto pay increases for our fighting men and women. He led the filibuster against Jim Webb's bill that provided adequate stateside rest for troops returning from combat. And he voted seven times last year to keep the war going with no timelines or exit strategy.
It's up to us to replace Mitch McConnell with a fighter who has the guts to stand up to the administration, and who won't back down to the Republicans.
Who is this Fighting Dem? From Paul--"Andrew Horne is that fighter."
Who is Andrew Horne? In addition to being a fellow Kossack...
A Marine like me [Paul] and Senator Jim Webb, Lieutenant Colonel Horne spent 27 years serving our country in uniform, including tours in both Desert Storm and the Iraq War. Now, he's come home to serve our country once more, this time in the United States Senate.
So while much of our attention is aimed at the primaries, let me toss in my 2p when it comes to making sure that our focus is also on the Senate as well where we need to work to get more Dems in to counteract the wiliness and willful disregard for 'We the People' known as the Republican Party.
Linky goodness:
Ditch Mitch

And last but not least...
Andrew's March 2007 Democratic Response to the president's Weekly Address:
[Update]: This diary is about helping get a Democratic candidate to the Senate, not about tearing down Democrats in the Primary Nightmare. There are tons of other diaries for that. So if that's what you're interested in, please take it elsewhere.
